Once inside the Vatican you will discover over 2,000 years of the history as you appreciate the beautiful Pieta by Michelangelo, the Holy Alter, work by Bernini and by Raphael.
The visit of St Peter's will leave you in awe!
You will then take a pleasant stroll through the cobblestone streets of Rome's historical centre. You will visit the gorgeous Piazza Navona, built on the ruins of Domitian's Circus and adorned by the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, masterpiece of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Then a visit of the Pantheon to see the dome that so inspired Michelangelo, the temple to the seven deities in the state religion of Ancient Rome. The tour will then lead you to the most famous Trevi Fountain often referred to as the "Queen of the Monuments".
You will then have lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch you will enter the amazing Colosseum the largest ever built in the Roman Empire was completed in 80AD under Titus. Originally named the Flavian Amphitheatre, it was once used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. As you wander around inside you will breath the bloody past of the arena and soak up the atmosphere created by your passionate and expert guide. You will feel like you can hear the lions roar!
You will then follow in the footsteps of Julius Caesar on the legendary Via Sacra and enter the Roman Forum. Here you will see the Arch of Constantine, the Temple of Vesta, the Arch of Titus, the Curia the Reggia and so much more.
You will visit the Palatine Hill, home of the emperors and the site of the original settlement of Rome. From here you will have an amazing view of the Circus Maximus the site of the ancient Chariot races.
You will begin to understand the power of the Roman Empire!
