Day 1: Milan, Verona
A private car and driver will pick you up in Milan, taking you to Verona,
one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world.
Often
called “Piccola Roma” (Small Rome), Verona was an important
city during the Imperial Age, reaching its climax during the 13th
and 14th Centuries under the rule of the Scala family, during which time
several families were said to have had disputes which in
part influenced the work of William Shakespeare. Your guided tour of
Verona
will include visits to the exteriors of both Piazza Brá and Arena, as
well as
to Via Mazzin, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori, the House of
Juliet,
Porta Borsari, Santa Anastasia Church, the Duomo, the Baptistry, and the
Roman
theatre. That evening, retreat to your hotel for some well-deserved
rest.
Day 2: Verona, Milan
After breakfast at your hotel, set off on your own to
discover the rest of Verona. Be sure to make time for Palazzo degli
Scaligeri (the Scala family’s main residence) and Scavi Scaligeri (an
extraordinary photo exposition), as well as Basilica San Zeno, where you can
admire the Maestá della Vergine di Mantegna and other notable paintings.
Your private car will take you back to Milan
that afternoon, where you may arrange a private transfer to your hotel or to
the airport.
